eSIM guide

The eSIM: mobile data abroad, without a SIM card.

An eSIM is a digital SIM card, already built into your phone. You buy a data plan for your destination, install it by scanning a QR code, and you are online as soon as you land, with no shop to find and no card to slide in.

In short

What is an eSIM?

An eSIM's chip is built into the phone: instead of inserting a plastic card, you install a carrier profile on it. One phone keeps several profiles and can use two at once.

The LeMultiservice travel eSIM is a mobile data plan, for one country or for the whole world. It is for the internet: WhatsApp, maps, e-mail, social media, calls through apps. It has no phone number: no regular calls or texts.

Your Senegalese SIM card stays in the phone. You keep your number to receive calls and texts, and your Wave and Orange Money codes.

The benefits

Why choose an eSIM?

  • A price known in advance

You pay for the plan once, in CFA francs, with Wave or Orange Money. No surprise roaming charges when you are back.

  • Online on arrival

Installed before you leave, the eSIM finds the local network a few minutes after landing. No shop to look for.

  • Your number stays on

Your Senegalese line stays in the phone: you can still be reached and you keep your payment codes.

  • One country or the whole world

One plan per country, or “Worldwide” for a trip across several countries.

How it works

Five steps, from the order to the network.

  1. Choose your destination

The country you are going to, or “Worldwide”. The available plans show at once, cheapest first.

  2. Choose your plan

By data and length. The plan’s sheet says when its validity starts.

  3. Pay

With Wave or Orange Money. Your eSIM shows on the page right after the payment, with its QR code.

  4. Install it before you leave

On Wi-Fi: scan the QR code from another screen, or enter the SM-DP+ address and the activation code. On a recent iPhone, one button installs it.

  5. Turn it on when you land

Pick the eSIM for mobile data and turn data roaming on for the eSIM line. Turn roaming off on your Senegalese line to avoid charges.

Compatibility

Does my phone accept eSIM?

  • The ten-second test

Dial *#06#: if an EID number shows, your phone accepts eSIM.

  • iPhone

Every iPhone since the XS and XR, released in 2018, except models sold in mainland China.

  • Android

Most recent Samsung Galaxy phones (S20 and later, Z Fold, Z Flip), Google Pixel phones since the Pixel 3, and many other recent models.

  • An unlocked phone

A phone locked to a carrier accepts no other eSIM. Opened from your phone, our site tells you whether your model is recognised.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions.

Can I make calls with the eSIM?

Not with a regular number: the eSIM is for the internet. WhatsApp calls and other apps work. To stay reachable on your Senegalese number, leave your line on; your carrier may charge calls received abroad.

When should I install the eSIM?

Preferably before you leave, on Wi-Fi. Each plan’s sheet says whether its validity starts at purchase or at the first connection at your destination.

Can I delete and reinstall the eSIM?

No: an eSIM installs only once. Do not delete it until your plan is over.

I have no connection on arrival. What should I do?

Check that the eSIM is picked for mobile data and that data roaming is on for its line. Wait 2 to 5 minutes, restart the phone, then write to us on WhatsApp.

Where do I find my eSIM after buying it?

On the “Track my order” page, with the reference (it starts with LMS-) and the phone that paid: the QR code and the installation codes are there.

What if the eSIM is not delivered?

If a paid order does not go through, the team is alerted and you are refunded the amount paid.
